Subject: Insurance Fraud Committed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield
Dear Mr. Barr:
The enclosed information is being sent to you as an act of desperation. I have made several attempts to bring attention to what I believe is a fairly long-standing practice of insurance fraud being perpetrated by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas (BCBS‑KS) through their third-party payer, New Directions Behavioral Health of Kansas (NDBH‑KS). It appears the desired outcome of this practice is increased profit for the shareholders of BCBS at the cost of unjustly denied healthcare benefits for BCBS‑KS policy holders. My efforts to bring attention to this problem have, thus far, been a complete failure. The website I had set up as an attempt to reach out to BCBS‑KS policy holders was very recently closed as not even one person responded to my offer of assist with overturning a denial of benefits for treatment.
I am beseeching you to consider investigating the allegations of healthcare insurance fraud that are very clearly explained in the enclosed correspondence. Many Kansans who carry healthcare benefits through a BCBS‑KS policy have been denied treatment that may have been life‑saving, such as treatment for addiction problems. Some of these instances of benefit denial have been outrageously despicable, yet each occurrence has gone unchallenged by those responsible for monitoring the ethical distribution of benefits. No one, as of yet, has agreed to investigate the allegations I have made against BCBS‑KS and NDBH‑KS. I am confident that our United States President and First Lady would be appalled if they had any idea of these accusations and the lack of attention they have received by those who have been entrusted with the public’s safety. That is why I am turning to you for help.
In conclusion, I am asking you if you can find it in your heart to take the time out of your very busy schedule to initiate an investigation into the fraudulent activities I believe BCBS‑KS has supported at the expense of the healthcare many Kansans, of all ages, have medically deserved. If there is anything, whatsoever, I can do that might support the request I am making of you, please feel free to call me at (___) ___-____. My address is: Post Office Box 1673, Kearney, Nebraska 68847. Mr. Barr, you have been granted the responsibility to protect Americans from criminal behavior, and you have the authority to take any action necessary to bring criminals to justice. I implore you to put that authority into action now. One word from you would initiate healing the healing of terrible wounds inflicted on so many Kansans.
Sincerely,
Kristy L. LeClair, MSEd, LMHP
